A Difficult Context, an Inspiring Youth

Despite a climate of insecurity marked by the presence of armed gangs in Carrefour, many young people demonstrate incredible resilience. Engaged in citizen initiatives and impact projects, they embody the hope and renewal of their community. The LEGACY LEADERSHIP AWARD was designed to recognize and encourage these young people to continue their efforts.

Inspiring Conference

The event began with a conference hosted by Sony Lamarre Joseph, CEO of Radio Lumière and best-selling author. He shared concrete tools to encourage young people to leave their positive mark on the world. Kimberline Noel moderated the discussions brilliantly, providing an engaging dynamic.

Award Ceremony for the Winners

During this first edition of the LEGACY LEADERSHIP AWARD, several young people were rewarded for their leadership and exceptional contribution:
- Roobens Louis
- Hajiel Junior Pierre
- Judelin Isaac Jean
- Pierre Rubens Emmanuel Moreau
- Juan Roberto K. Thomas
- Schaëlda P. Joseph

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Valery Jean Paul, entrepreneur and rector of Grace Academy Of Theology, who praised this initiative and encouraged the winners to continue their commitment.

An Exceptional Mobilization

The event brought together a diverse and engaged audience. After an official presentation by Darlise Sintumas, Public Affairs Manager, a networking session allowed participants to exchange and strengthen their ties.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the musical performance of Grace Marcelin, who captivated the audience. The festive atmosphere, supported by light shows and special effects, added a magical dimension to the ceremony. The motivational speech by Edrice G. Payen, project coordinator, also left a strong impression on the participants.

A Strong Message from the CEO During his speech, Dwinny Belval left his mark on the audience with these inspiring words:

Become the leader you want to see in your community.

He stressed the importance of celebrating and encouraging youth engagement, emphasizing the rarity of initiatives that value their impact.

A Remarkable Presence of Other Structures

The ceremony was enriched by the participation of more than twenty local organizations, including:
- KOZE JEN YO
- VICODEC
- Coding Club Carrefour
- ANN KREYE
- CrazuGlote
- VIP
- Inspire Youth Center
- Antreprenarya San Dola
- OCEEV

This diversity of participants testifies to the scale and impact of the initiative.

See you in 2026 for an Even More Ambitious Edition!

The LEGACY LEADERSHIP AWARD has proven that committed and determined youth can change their reality. The 2026 edition is already shaping up to be an even more ambitious event, bringing hope and opportunities for the new generation of Haitian leaders.

Haiti: The Center department, one of the departments most resistant to natural earthquakes

The Center department, commonly called Plateau Central, is one of the ten (10) departments of Haïti most robust in the face of certain natural phenomena. Before becoming one of the ten (10) departments of Haiti, the Center department was part of the Great North. It is renowned for its natural landscapes, its biosphere climate and its resistance to certain natural phenomena. In addition to its natural productions such as corn, millet and livestock, the Center department is also known for its high mountains which constitute a robust defense against certain natural phenomena such as earthquakes and floods. Composed mainly of high mountains, the department of Charlemagne Peralte and Benoît Batravil is the only one of the ten (10) not to have an outlet to the sea. However, its inhabitants take advantage of the vast rivers, rivers and lakes which cross it . With an area of 3,487 km², the population of the Center department is estimated at 678,626 according to a study carried out in 2009. On this same area, the department is divided into four (4) districts and twelve (12) communes. Bordered to the east by the Dominican Republic, the Center department connects other departments of the country such as Nord and Artibonite, and connects the two countries of the island through border areas like Balladère, Hinche and Cerca Carvajal. In the Center department, there are sites that could attract tourists for their natural beauty. In Saut d’Eau, there is the Saut d’Eau waterfall, in Hinche we find the Zim basin, the Péligre lake, the Péligre hydroelectric dam, the Artibonite river, and the Deux river (2 ) Rooms in Thomonde, more precisely in "El Manni", not far from the communal section of Caille-Epin. Thanks to its strong mountains and its natural climate, the Center department remains one of the most resistant departments in the event of an earthquake in Haiti.
