Cap-Haïtien is not only a historic and cultural city, it is also becoming fertile ground for Haitian cinema. At the heart of this excitement was born Okap Dynamique Film (ODF), an initiative that proves that passion and creativity can bring great projects to life, even with modest means.

ODF is the fruit of the energy and talent of young Cap-Haïtien residents determined to give a new voice to cinema in Haiti. It all began thanks to the vision of Sévère Mickha Makaël and Simon Bruce Wily, joined by Jefté Ismaël Oreste and Sévère Rapha Makaël, who structured and brought the project to life. With these four pioneers, the cinematic adventure officially began.
After directing DERAN, a notable first short film, ODF made a big splash with L’Éveil de la Flamme, selected for the Nikon Film Festival in France. This international recognition proved that Haitian talent can shine beyond borders.
Aware that cinema is also a tool for transmission and training, ODF offers acting and physical stunt workshops to young people from Cap-Haïtien and the surrounding area. From these training sessions, the Okap Dynamique Court-Métrage Film Challenge competition was born, revealing new talents such as Alusma Marc Jovenel, Jacques Stanley, Duvisien Emmanuel, and Nercitha Morisset.
In 2024, ODF participated in the LAKAYWOOD Festival, an international gathering of Haitian short films. Their film Libète ou Lanmò won the 2nd National Prize and the Best Action Film Award, confirming the collective’s growing strength.
Today, ODF takes a new step forward with its latest short film: The Shadow of the Border, co-directed by Jefté Ismaël Oreste and Fils-Aimé Pakison Samuel. Shot primarily in Ouanaminthe, this film symbolizes ODF’s ambition:
- To make cinema accessible to all,
- To provide a space for expression for young people,
- To build a strong and inclusive Haitian film industry.
The first screening will take place on October 4, 2025, in Ouanaminthe, an event that will mark a decisive milestone in the history of the initiative.
With L’Ombre de la Frontière, ODF sends a dual message:
A call to hope, showing that Haitian cinema can be a source of meaning and a future.
A call to action, for Haitiansand especially young peopleto get involved in this creative and opportunity-filled field.
In just a few years, Okap Dynamique Film has established itself as a key player in the revival of Haitian cinema. Their journey demonstrates that with passion, perseverance, and a clear vision, it is possible to transform a young person’s dream into a true cultural movement.
Their ambition is clear: to make Haitian cinema not only a showcase of national culture, but also a tool for unity, creativity, and opportunity for all Haitian youth.

HIV/AIDS remains a major threat to public health, especially among young people in Haiti. Faced with this reality, LEAD-ACADEMY, an organization founded in December 2020 by Dwinny Belval, has committed itself through the project “KANPAY SANSIBILIZASYON POU GOUMEN KONT VIH/SIDA” (“Awareness Campaign to Combat HIV/AIDS”). This initiative, launched as part of World HIV/AIDS Day, aims to mobilize Carrefour schoolchildren and promote responsible behavior in the face of this epidemic.
1- Abaka Bay (Île-à-Vache): Start your Haitian adventure with the magnificent Abaka Bay, recently named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by CNN. Located on the enchanting island of Île à Vache, this bay offers a pristine white sand beach and calm Caribbean waters, framed by lush green hills. Its smooth white sand beach immediately catches the eye, while gentle waves create a dreamy oasis against the pearly shore. Located in the turquoise waters off the coast of Plaine du Nord in northern Haiti, Île à Rat is a 1.8 hectare piece of white coral covered in a small wild forest. The island is a peaceful retreat, especially for couples looking for a serene getaway. To get to Île à Rat, you can take one of the many water taxis waiting in Labadee, a 30-minute drive from Cap-Haïtien. Keep in mind that the island is uninhabited, so it is important to bring everything you need for a comfortable stay, including drinking water. 3- Côtes des Arcadins: Nestled north of the bay of Port-au-Prince, Côtes des Arcadins stretches over 19 kilometers of white sand beaches lined with palm trees, making it one of the most popular seaside destinations from Haiti. The combination of the deep blue sea, mountains, mangrove forests and the coral reef formed by the Arcadins islets creates a breathtaking spectacle. It is also a great place for divers. To get there, follow the road north of the bay of Port-au-Prince. You will be amazed by the natural beauty of this region. 4- Plage de Gelée: This beach is one of the most popular thanks to its crystal clear waters and soft sand, all with a pastoral landscape in the background. If you are looking for a place to relax and soak up the sun, Gelée Beach is a great choice. 5- Jacmel Beach: Although swimming is not recommended here, Jacmel Beach is famous for its picturesque charm and artistic atmosphere. It is located in the historic town of Jacmel, known for its lively carnival and colorful houses. Explore the beach, admire the architecture and soak up Haitian culture.
