Characteristic of a rabbit
Rabbits are mammals belonging to the family Leporidae. Here are some of their main characteristics:
1. **Physique**: Rabbits have a body covered in soft fur, long upright ears, large eyes on the sides of their head, and a short fluffy tail. They have powerful hind legs adapted for jumping.

2. **Size and weight**: Size and weight can vary considerably according to the breed, from about 500 grams for the smallest to more than 5 kilograms for the largest.
3. **Behavior**: Rabbits are known to be social and can live in groups in the wild. They communicate with one another in different ways, including through sounds and body movements. Rabbits dig burrows in which to live and to protect themselves from predators.
4. **Diet**: They are herbivores, feeding mainly on hay, grasses, leaves, flowers, and certain vegetables. Their digestive system is adapted to process a large amount of fiber.
5. **Reproduction**: Rabbits are known for their ability to reproduce quickly, with short gestations of about 28 to 31 days. A litter can number from one to twelve young, depending on the breed.
6. **Senses**: They have excellent peripheral vision to detect movement all around them, but they have a blind spot just in front of their nose. Their hearing is also highly developed, allowing them to pick up sounds at great distances.
7. **Life expectancy**: In captivity, rabbits can live from 7 to 10 years, depending on the breed and the care they receive, while in the wild their life expectancy is generally shorter because of predators and disease.
These animals require proper care, including a balanced diet, exercise, and particular attention to their emotional and physical well-being, in order to live a healthy and happy life in captivity.
